What Your New Kitten Will Need

Before your kitten comes home, it’s helpful to have a few things ready to make their transition smooth and comfortable. Your new Ragdoll will be leaving our cozy home for yours, and a prepared space helps them feel safe, loved, and right at home from the start.

Basic supplies

   • A carrier for safe travel to and from the vet

  • A safe space or quiet room for your kitten to adjust during the first few days
  • A litter box (low-sided for kittens)
  • Unscented, clumping litter — gentle on little paws
  • Food and water dishes (stainless steel or ceramic preferred)
  • High-quality kitten food — we’ll let you know what your kitten has been eating here so you can transition smoothly
  • Toys for play and exercise (wand toys, soft balls, crinkle toys, etc.)
  • A scratching post or cat tree to encourage healthy scratching habits
  • A soft bed or blanket for naps and comfort
  • Nail trimmers made for cats
  • A brush or comb suitable for Ragdolls’ long coats

Health & Safety

  • A veterinarian appointment within a few days of bringing your kitten home (for a wellness check)
  • Flea and tick prevention — ask your vet for kitten-safe options
  • A kitten-proofed home (tuck away cords, remove toxic plants, etc.)

Optional but Helpful

  • A Feliway diffuser or spray to help your kitten adjust to their new environment
  • An extra litter box if you have multiple floors or cats
  • A water fountain to encourage hydration
  • An ID tag and breakaway collar (even for indoor cats, just in case)
